We are living in age of Big Data.We are constantly inundated by all kinds of information and  from different and varied  sources. No human beings before us ever  dealt with the this  amount of information  we are dealing with  now. Information overload is the first consequences of our constant exposure to too much information. Clay A, Johnson made a solid and convincing point about this phenomenon when he proposed The Information Diet: A Case for Conscious Consumption . According to Clay :

“ The modern human animal spends upwards of 11 hours out of every 24 in a state of constant consumption. Not eating, but gorging on information ceaselessly spewed from the screens and speakers we hold dear. Just as we have grown morbidly obese on sugar, fat, and flour- so, too, have we become gluttons for texts, instant messages, emails, RSS Feeds, downloads, videos, status updates, and tweets.We are all battling a storm of distractions, buffeted  with notifications and tempted by tasty tidbits of information. And just as too much .....” 

The Information Diet: A Case for Conscious Consumption is definitely the best book I have read in this year.
