AI text to video tools are AI-powered platforms that enable you to type in a prompt and generate a video. This technology is relatively new and its results are decent to say the least. In fact, compared with other other aspects of generative AI, I find text to video to be still lagging behind and needs much more improvement.
That said, there are some promising tools out there that you can use to generate decent video footage. The one that is gaining so much traction right now is Sora by OpenAI which was launched only few days ago. I have tried it myself and find it way better than what it is out there so far.
So instead of focusing primarily on text to video functionality, let’s also consider the editing process given that AI has tremendously improved video editing. With a single click, you can smartly adjust colour, change audio, add overlays, generate captions, and many more.
In working on this list, I tried to assemble what I believe are some powerful AI-powered tools that can help enhance your video creation and allow you to produce good video content without the need for prior technical knowledge.

Sora is developed by OpenAI and, as of right now, is only available to logged in pro users.While it’s not perfect, Sora delivers surprisingly coherent and visually appealing video content. It is directly integrated into ChatGPT interface which makes it super easy to access. Sora also offers video editing features allowing you to do thing such as customize generated video footage with overlays, transitions, and captions.
2. Synthesia
Synthesia is another AI text to video tool that makes it easy to generate videos using prompts. Simply type in your text and click to get a video with AI avatar. You can easily replace the AI avatar, change colours and fonts, and adjust layouts to make the video uniquely yours.
Synthesia also enables you to create your own AI avatar (ie., your digital twin) and use it in your videos. 8. Capcut
Capcupt is a video editor that offers tons of AI features. It is available both as a desktop and a mobile app. I have been using Capcut for two years now and I find it to be one of the simplest and easier video editors out there. I especially like the mobile app and it is my go-to app for editing videos on my iPhone. The AI features it provides are very helpful. These include; Retouch (to automatically adjust the look of your body and face by applying various effects), adjust video and image quality, enhance audio, insert stickers and overlays, add captions, and many more.
9. Descript
Descript’s motto is “if you can edit text, you can edit videos/make viral clips). This is an AI-driven video editing platform that enables you to create professional videos without any prior technical knowledge. Final thoughts
AI text to video technology is still in its infancy and it still hasn’t yet reached the level where it can produce flawless human-like videos consistently. However, given the features it provides now, this technology, as represented in the AI tools I featured above, can still offer some value especially for us in education. For instance, as a teacher you can use these AI tools to easily generate and edit engaging explainer videos or instructional tutorials. The fact that no technical knowledge is required makes these tools accessible to educators of all tech skill levels.
