Educational Technology and Mobile Learning (ETML) is a blog owned and operated by Med Kharbach. Dr. Kharbach holds a PhD in educational studies from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Canada. He was also a K-12 teacher with over 12 years of classroom teaching experience.
I launched ETML in 2010 with the purpose of helping my fellow EFL (English as Foreign Language) teachers integrate technology in English language teaching. Fast forward to 2022, ETML became among the top EdTech blogs with over 7000 published blog posts. ETML has been referenced in a wide variety of academic research journals, books, and news outlets including the New York Times, Huffpost.com, Hubspot.com, among others.
I strongly believe in the potential of educational technology in transforming the way we learn and teach and I want to help, as much as I can, towards making this transformative power of technology a lived reality in our classrooms and beyond. My goal is to help teachers, educators, students, and parents make the best of educational technology by providing them with quality EdTech resources and recommendations.
I also own another blog, selectedreads.com, where I share book recommendations, summaries, and reviews.
Apart from educational technology, my other academic research interests as a scholar include: curriculum studies, discourse analysis, language learning/teaching, language and identity, new (emerging) literacies, and research methodologies. I have presented in numerous national and international conferences and have published in different academic peer reviewed journals including:
- Discourse & Communication
- Discourse & Society
- Journal of the Canadian Association for Curriculum Studies
- Antistasis (University of New Brunswick, Canada)
- Journal of the International Association for the Advancement of Curriculum Studies
My professional affiliations include:
- The International Society for Research on Identity
- Canadian Society for the Study of Education (CSSE)
- Canadian Committee of Graduate Students in Education (CCGSE)
- Canadian Association for Curriculum Studies (CACS)
- Canadian Network for Research on Terrorism, Security, and Society .
You can find an overview of my academic publications on these platforms: ResearchGate, LinkedIn, ORCID, and Google Scholar.
AI Update
In January 2023, I embarked on a new journey in the realm of blogging, integrating AI technologies, specifically Jasper and ChatGPT, into my content creation process. Initially, I admit, I had reservations about using AI. There was a part of me that resisted this technological leap, questioning its authenticity and impact on the quality of content I’ve been known for.
However, as I delved deeper, I began to appreciate the myriad ways AI could enhance my work. It’s not just about the speed or efficiency; AI tools have surprised me with their ability to offer in-depth insights, generate fresh ideas, and even scrutinize my writing style with an almost uncanny precision. They have become my go-to for rephrasing sentences, brainstorming new topics, and even checking the coherence of my articles.
But here’s the thing โ while AI can often write impressively, sometimes even surpassing my own abilities, it’s not without its limitations. That’s why I approach this new tool with a blend of enthusiasm and caution. Every piece of AI-generated content on my blog undergoes a rigorous process of fact-checking. I ensure that it is not just factually accurate, but also aligns seamlessly with the editorial standards of Educators Technology.
I add relevant references and sources, infusing the AI’s output with a human touch โ my touch โ to maintain the authenticity and trustworthiness that you, my readers, have always valued. This journey with AI in my blog is a continuous learning curve, and I’m excited to see where it takes us in the ever-evolving landscape of educational technology.
