AI and more specifically generative AI is rapidly advancing with new tools and updates published almost on a daily basis. And depending on your perspective, I personally view this as an amazing period with promising opportunities for learning and growth. As a general purpose technology, AI has touched almost every facet of our society and more specifically education.
Teachers and students are now empowered to explore untapped possibilities in education leveraging AI to personalize learning experiences, enhance collaboration, and streamline administrative tasks. Of course, every technology comes with its set of limitations and caveats and AI is no exception!
In order to make the best of AI in education, we (teachers and educators) need to be willing to take risks, experiment with different tools, and be ready to get out of our comfort teaching zones to embrace new approaches that challenge traditional methods.

All of this starts with developing a strong understanding of how AI works, the possibilities it offers, and the challenges it presents. Building this foundational knowledge allows us to make informed decisions about integrating AI into our teaching practices. One way to build this foundation knowledge is by having access to quality research that provides evidence-based insights, innovative ideas, and practical applications of AI in education.
To this end, I went ahead and compiled this list featuring some of the best academic journals focused on AI and its applications in education. These journals, some of them support open access, will provide you with access to cutting-edge studies and expert insights to help you make the best of AI in your teaching and professional growth.
