Spaces is one of the features I find unique to School AI. It is basically a Chatbot tailored specifically for students’ use. Students can use Spaces to engage in interactive learning experiences such as role-playing historical figures, exploring new topics, or taking quizzes that adapt to their level of understanding. The great thing about Spaces is that teachers have full control over them. They can create custom Spaces based on specific subjects, projects, or learning goals.
For example, you can create a “Space” focused on a particular historical event, where students can interact with a simulated version of historical figures, conduct debates, or even make decisions that impact the outcome of the event, all within the framework of the curriculum.
Spaces also provides you with tools to monitor students progress allowing you access to key insights on how well your students are interacting with the taught material. Based on these insights you can further tailor the learning experience for each student.
For example, if the data shows that a student is struggling with a particular concept or consistently answering quiz questions incorrectly, you can offer additional resources, adjust the difficulty of tasks, or even provide targeted one-on-one support.
To set up a Space for you students, go ahead and click on Create Space, give it a title, describe what it is about. This is where you get to provide a detailed prompt to guide the AI on how to respond and engage with your students.
You always have the option to preview your Space and see how it responds before you share it with your students. “If you feel overwhelmed, or can’t get a sense of how it works, go to the Discover library and choose a random Space (you can use Chat with Abraham Lincoln as an example). Select Start preview and begin to interact with the Space, typing answers to the questions as if you were a student.”
Sidekick
Sidekick is an AI assistant that is especially designed for students. It helps them enhance their learning and solve problems in almost any given topic. For instance, students can ask to help them solve mathemtical equations step by step. They can also use it to break down complex concepts into simple more understandable explanations.
