In today’s post we want to bring your attention to this excellent educational resource that, we believe, should definitely make it into your digital teaching toolkit. Open Culture, for those of you who are not yet familiar with it, is a platform that curates and shares a wide variety of cultural and educational multi-media materials ideal for use in different educational settings. These materials include: free online academic courses, podcasts, movies, audio books, MOOCs, eBooks, lectures, writing tips, music, K-12 resources, textbooks, and many more.
Open Culture does not create the content it shares, it searches the web and curates the best educational content and organizes it in a user-friendly format that can be easily accessible by anyone out there. For instance, if you are looking for textbook resources, the site features over 200 free textbooks covering various school subjects (e.g., Math, physics, computer science, history, languages, economics, engineering, and many more). Language teachers will particular find the ‘Free language LessonsFree Language Lessons‘ section helpful. It comprises free courses on teaching/learning several languages including Arabic, English, French, German, Spanish, and many more.
Book lovers can access over 700 free eBooks and audio books covering almost all genres. There is also a section on Podcasts featuring podcasts on philosophy, history, fashion, music, art and many more. The folks in Open Culture do not charge users for the great work they are doing but it would be great if you can help them with a donation.
