For those of you teaching in middle school, below is a collection of some useful apps to help students learn grammar and improve their spelling skills. The apps provide games, lessons, exercises, and several other activities to help students strengthen their grasp of language grammar and spelling. Check them out and share with us your feedback. 1- Smashing Grammar
Smashing Grammar is an a good app to help kids learn grammar. Some of its features include: Learn nouns, verbs, syllables, spelling, verb tense, and plurals; nouns and verbs are presented in the context of a sentence; great practice for improving reading fluency (speed); exposure to thousands of vocabulary/spelling words; amazing graphics, sound effects, and music with outlandish British voiceovers!
2- SpellBoard
‘SpellBoard allows you to create any spelling quiz in any language. That’s right, you could even use this for your Spanish class! SpellBoard adds fun activities to your custom spelling lists. Including Word Search, Word Scramble, Alphabetize, Word/Sentence Matching, and Missing Letter puzzles.’
3- Simplex Spelling Phonics
