In today’s post we are sharing with you three important Chrome extensions to help you enhance your browsing, reading, and also watching experience. These add-ons change the white bright colour of your webpages into a faded dim colour that is easy on the eyes. We have tried all of these extensions and found them really helpful. Please note that for better performance, you need to select and install only one extension, installing all of them may render some of them dysfunctional. Dark Reader and Dark Mode work on any webpage but we have a preference for Dark Mode for the simple reasons that it provides you with a versatile on/off button that lets you choose whether you want to turn a particular webpage into dark mode or not and that it also allows you to choose among 20 different themes to use. Dark Reader does not offer this option and forces dark mode on every webpage you open. As for Turn Off the Lights, this is originally designed for YouTube but can also work with other webpages.
1- Dark Mode
“Dark Mode is a browser add-on that helps you quickly turn the screen (browser) to dark at night time.Toolbar button serves as an ON|OFF switch which enables you to easily and quickly turn the extension ON or OFF. If you do not like the current dark theme (dark theme #1), please visit the options page and choose a different theme from the 20 options available.”
2- Dark Reader
“Dark mode for every website. Take care of your eyes, use dark theme for night and daily browsing. This eye-care extension enables night mode creating dark themes for websites on the fly. Dark Reader inverts bright colors making them high contrast and easy to read at night. You can adjust brightness, contrast, sepia filter, dark mode, font settings and ignore-list.”
3- Turn Off the Lights for YouTube
“The entire page will be fading to dark, so you can watch the videos as if you were in the cinema. Works for YouTube™ and beyond. With a single click on the lamp button, the page will fade to dark. And automatically focus on the video. By clicking on it again, the page will return to normal. Turn Off the Lights is a lightweight and useful add-in designed for a more comfortable watching experience. It works for all known video sites such as YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Hulu, Metacafe, YouKu, etc.”
