After we have seen how to create educational puzzle games using Crossword Labs here is another excellent tool from Matt Johnson to help you create word search games called Word Search Labs. This is particularly helpful in vocabulary practice. You can create word searches using the the new vocabulary items you have introduced students to and get them to work either individually or in groups to solve the search game. Word Search Labs is completely free and no signup is required.
To start creating a word search game head over to Word Search Labs and fill in the boxes on the left. You are required to provide a title for you word search and then input your words (separate each with comma or space). Next choose the directions in which words are to be arranged (e.g., left to right, up to down, down to up, right to left etc) and select the number of letters both across and down. Provide a passcode ‘so you can edit your word search later or view the answer key’. Click on ‘Preview’ to see how your word search looks like. To modify it click on ‘Edit’ otherwise you can print it out or share it with others so they can work on it online. Check out Word Search Labs and share with us your feedback on our social media platforms.
