Cliptomatic is an excellent iPad app that allows you to add live captions to your recorded videos. This app is free today and only for a limited period of time, its regular price is $6.99. We have been experimenting with it for awhile now and found it really worth featuring here. Teachers, especially language teachers, can use it for a wide variety of educational purposes most notably to teach pronunciation, writing, vocabulary and even reading. It can also be used in digital storytelling projects and video journalling.
The way Cliptomatic works is simple and easy. Once you install it and permit it to access your iPad’s camera and microphone, click on the record button and start recording your video. Everything you say will be displayed as captions accompanying your video. Cliptomatic supports over 40 languages and you can select the speech recognition language right from within the app. It also offer various text styles and artistic filters to customize and enhance your videos. Once your videos are ready you can then share them via social media websites, through email, save them to your camera roll, or upload them to your iCloud account.
