This is How to Automatically Grade Quizzes Using Google Forms

Today somebody emailed me asking for a web tool to use for automatic grading. The first thing that comes to my mind is Flubaroo. Flubaroo is a free tool that helps you quickly grade assignments and email grading reports to your students. I have been using it with my students and I love the work it does.
Below is a step by step guide to show you how you can use Flubaroo to automatically grade quizzes you have created in Google Forms. First you need to create your quiz using Google Form (check out this guide if you still don't know how to create a quiz using Google Forms ). After you finish creating your quiz, email it to yourself and answer all the questions ( you will know why later on). Your submission will be the first response to your quiz. Now send the quiz form to your students .

You will notice a Spreadsheet in your Drive entitled "Responses". This is the sheet where students answers together with your first submission will be displayed. Within this sheet click on " insert" button and select "script"




Search for Flubaroo in the search pane and then click on "install"



Grant authorization to the app



Now click on Flubaroo from within your spreadsheet and select "Grade Assignment"





Select a grading option for each of the questions your in your assignment or click on skip grading if you don't want to grade a question.Next click on "continue".





Now select which submission you want to use as the Answer Key.This submission is the one you made when you first completed the form. All other submissions will be graded against the Answer Key.





After the grading is completed a new worksheet called "Grades" will be created. This worksheet contains a grade for each submission, and a summary of all grades at the top.

You can also email grades to each student together with the correct answer.To do this you should have already collected students email addresses. Then, click on Flubaroo and select " email grades"





Now select "Include Answer Key" to include the correct answers in your email then click on continue.
