MIT Centre for Civic Media has recently launched an interesting website called What We Watch. In What W Watch users get to learn about the trending and popular YouTube Videos in different georaphical areas.
For the past six months, the folks in What We Watch gathered data from YouTube to understand what users rally watch the most. The videos they featured are videos that appear on YouTube’s Trends dashboard. These are the videos trending in any of 61 countries – they are not necessarily the most popular of all time, or even most popular that month, but they are receiving a lot of attention in a short period of time.
What We Watch provides a clickable map of the world. Click on a country to see which other countries watched similar videos. The darker the country, the more they have in common. Click a second country to see what videos are popular in both places.
