The web is a treasure trove of interesting resources to use for a
variety of educational purposes. To leverage the educational potential
of the web and be able to make the best of it in your instruction, you
need to be equipped with tools that will enable you to curate, save and
share the content you come across online. To this end, we are
introducing you to 7 of our favourite web tools that will allow you to
not only bookmark and save digital content but also organize it in
beautiful visual boards and collections that can be easily shared with
students.
1- Padlet
Padlet is a great web tool that allows you to curate, bookmark, organize
and share digital content online. You can collaborate with colleagues
and invite others to contribute to your Padlet. Padlet supports
different forms oc content including text, notes, images, videos and
drawings. You can also upload files and documents.
2- Participate
Educlipper is a website where teachers get to curate and organize
digital content. ‘Educlipper has been designed specifically for
educators and by an educator (Adam Bellow: founder). The process of
setting up your Educlipper account is pretty easy and can be done in a
few clicks and once logged in you can instantly start adding content .
There is also a handy Educlipit button that you can install on your
browser to bookmark digital content you come across while browsing the
web.. Another good feature that Educlipper offers to its users is that
users can work collaboratively on the content they curate from the web,
they can also organize it into educlipboards and share it with others’
3- LiveBinders
LiveBinders lets you organize your digital content into binders. You
can upload your documents and combine them with online links and
resources. ‘You can collaborate with others on your binders, whether
they are in your school or across the globe. So many educators have
created great LiveBinders that it is now an on-line destination library
for anyone looking for teaching materials on any subject.’
4- Evernote Web Clipper
For those of you using Evernote, this is a must have tool. It allows you
to easily clip web content and save it to your Evernote account accessible across different devices. You can clip any article or web
page, use text and visual callouts to draw attention and share clios
email or via a unique URL.
5- SymbalooEDU
SymbalooEDU is another excellent web tool you can use to visually
organie digital content. It helps you ‘Manage your favorite bookmarks
and web resources, then share them with your colleagues or students!’.
6- Pinterest
You can use Pinterest to discover, search for and save interesting
content from the web. Pinterest Boards is a great way to organize your
saved content. You can create boards for specific topics and each time
you come across a piece of content relevant to any of your boards, click
on Pinterest button to pin and save it there.
7- Feedly
‘Feedly has recently added some new interesting features to improve the
way you save, read and share web content. With these new features, users
will be able to create boards, highlight salient part of stories, and
add notes.’
