Drawing and art are two essential pillars of creativity and through drawing students learn to engage with new learning experiences that enrich their imaginative powers. Drawing should be part of the everyday activities of learners with an allocated time slot in which students are given the freedom to experiment with their ideas and thoughts through sketching.
There are now several digital platforms that provide good drawing tools for students to use to create their drawings. I have selected some of these platforms and sorted them into the list below. Check them out and share with your students :
1- Draw It Live
Draw it Live is a free application that allows you to work together with other people to draw in real time. You simply create a whiteboard and share its URL to allow other people to join in.
2- Google Drawing
This is my favourite drawing tool. Beside being integrated into Googlde Drive, drawings created through this platform are also available for download in different formats include PDF format.
Kloudz is a cool web tool that allows users to unleash their creative drawing skills. It somehow resembles Google Draw but has different drawing features. What I like the most about this platform is its simple and yet powerful drawing tools. Kloudz provides you with a canvas on which you can create your drawings and share them with the world.
4- Pixlr Editor
Pixlr editor allows you to draw pictures using a wide selection of drawing tools. It also lets you upload the images you have on your computer and work on them on its editor.
5- Draw Island
Draw Island lets you draw online : change sizes, colors and use shapes like rectangle, round,.... and save result. After you are done, you can easily save image (the drawing) to your computer.
6- Live Brush
Livebrush is a drawing application. It employs an easy-to-use brush tool that reacts to your gesture. By combining simple motion controls with brush styles, Livebrush offers a fun and unique way to create graphics.
Sketchfu is another cool web tool that you can use to create drawings. It has a user friendly interface and is very easy to use. However, you need to open a free account to start using it.
This is a great drawing canvas where you can experiment with your drawings without having to sign up or install any software.
9- Deviant Art
Another drawing canvas that resembles Kleki but this one requires a sign up.
This web tool allows you to create sketches using different fonts, sizes, and colours.
