Using Google Docs to Facilitate A Writing Workshop

While I was working on a presentation I will be delivering next week in the Mount  university on teaching digital writing  , I came across this great resource on how to facilitate a writing workshop using Google Docs. I personally love Google Docs and I have written a lot about it in the past and there is an entire section here in Educational Technology and Mobile Learning devoted to everything teachers need to know about this service. What distinguished Google Docs from other similar web tools is that it is free, connected with other Google services ( Google Drive, Maps, YouTube ), and supports many collaborative features. Students can use it to work on their writing assignments or projects drawing on the different features it has like, synchronous editing, real time collaboration, tracking editing history, instant chat and many more. I have always been advocating the use of Google Docs with students and will continue to do so. I have also several other writing resources that I will be sharing with you in the next days.
