Top 10 Bookmarking Websites for Teachers

One of our basic characteristic as teachers and educators is that of being lifelong learners. We are on a continuous quest for new insights and knowledge because the information hunger is never gratified. In fact the moment you think you know it all the moment your downfall starts. Thankfully , technology and particularly web2.0 tools have made it way easier for us to stay informed. There are several web tools that can help us store, save classify, curate, aggregate, organize , and share what we learn. I am  insisting on the sharing part of this process because collaboration is the key to a successful lifelong learning journey.

Over the last couple of years,  Educational Technology and Mobile Learning has  posted several lists of free web tools teachers and students can use to bookmark and share what they learn, but because web tools keep passing away  on us then we try to make sure to share with you the newest updates.

Below is a list of some of the best social bookmarking websites online. Check them out and let us know if we have missed any :

This is one of my favorite bookmarking tool that I use almost daily. Diigo is very easy to use and has a bookmarklet that you can install on your browser and with one click you can save any web page you want. It also has a set of web annotation tools available for free.

Besides its being a directory of web tools and mobile apps, Edshelf is also a platform where you can sign up and start storing and organizing your web content. You can share it with others and explore what others share.

This is another great web curation tool. It is free and has a user friendly interface. I use Scoop.it to curate web content I come across online. I have created several scoops where I aggregate everything I want to share with others.

This is a  content sharing service that allows members to "pin" images, videos and other objects to their pinboard. Also includes standard social networking features.

Probably all of you know about it.Evernote  is a great tool to bookmark and capture anything you want from the web and save it to your account. With its mobile apps, you can access your saved content anywhere and anytime you want.

As its name indicates, Livebinder allows you to organize your resources into binders. You can either make these binders private or public for anyone else to access.

Historious saves you time by helping you find webpages you saw before. Bookmark sites with a single click, then find them again by searching for any word in the content of the page!

Delicious is the place to collect and showcase your passions from across the web. Save what you like - videos, pictures, tweets, blog posts, or articles - on topics you enjoy and search through others’ collections of links to discover cool stuff!

Jog The Web is  a web-based tool that allows anyone to create a synchronous guide to a series of web sites.
