10 Wonderful New Web Tools for Teachers

This week's selection of  web2.0 tools has a new collection of some awesome web services that teachers and students can use for educational purposes. Most of our readers are already familiar with what we do in this section caled Educational Web Tools; but for those who have just landed on this page for the first time not knowing what this is all about. This is meant to be a repertoire of educational web tools that teachers and students can access anytime they want. The purpose behind it is to enable busy teachers to keep track of the latest and most updated releases in the field of educational technology. We know it is very hard to keep up with the flow but at least posts such as this one can be of some help.







During the course of last week and as usual, Educational Technology and Mobile Learning has been scouring the web ( blogs, websites, forums, magazines, journals..ect ) and selected some new web tools that we think have some educational relevance to teachers and students and we included them in the list below. 1- Pinside



This is a cool notetaking and sticky notes platform.Students can create pinboards where they post their comments, text, image, and they can either post privately or in public.



2- SpeakPipe



This is a web tool that allows you to record voice messages and send them to email recipients. If you have set up a classroom blog or website then you can use SpeakPipe to let your students leave voice messages on the content they read.



3- Science Netlinks




This is a wonderful k-12 education resource where you can find teaching tools, interactives, podcasts, and hands-on-activities all for free.



4-JumpRope




This is a grading web tool. Teachers as well as administrators can use it to easily implement standards- based grading in every classroom.



5- Printable Calendar




If you are looking for calendars to print then Printable Calendar would serve you the best. It lets you print out calendars of each month , and you can also shift the months and print any calendar you want.



6- Utopia Docs



If you want to have an awesome PDF reading experience then try out this tool. It brings a fresh new perspective to reading the scientific literature.


7- Ultraslideshow Lite




This is a great web tool to use to make slideshows with flash. It provides more than 300 flash slideshow to choose from and lets you use music as a background. When you are  done you can either burn CDs and DVDs with the auto-play slideshow or embed your slides anywhere on the web.



8- Backstit.ch



Backstit.ch is a cool start-up page you can use instead of the late iGoogle. It allows you to organize your materials, links, and favourite websites and services into one single platform.



9- Harnu



This is a website you can use to look for all kinds of multimedia resources including music, videos, news stories based on the type and country you select. You can also use it to connect and learn from people from all around the world.



10- PicLits


PicLits can be used to improve students writings. This is like a story starter, it provides images for students and they have to come up with text to illustrate them.
