15 Great Free Science Resources for Teachers and Students ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

This is the second post in a series of posts that will be featuring a variety of free web resources on different subject areas. Yesterday we posted about 10 Free Social Studies Resources and today we will be covering Science resources. The aim behind these series is to provide teachers with a solid online background on the subjects they teach .

This is an awesome science resource from Discovery Education and it offers free links, interactives, presentations,projects and many more.

3- National Science Teacher Association ( NSTA )

This is a platofrm designed by science teachers where they provide free science resources such as PDFs, freebies, news, activities, and more. You can also browse resources by age category.

4- National Science Digital Library ( NSDL )

NSDL is the nation's online portal for education and research on learning in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

5-Science Printables

This web portal has a bucketful of science printables that teachers and students can have free access to. These printables are organized under different headings and titles.

6- The Case Files

This one here highlights individuals from the history of science and technology. Each thematic group of Files presented at left begins with commentary from a distinguished historian of the discipline.

7- Understanding Science

Understanding Science offers everything one needs to know about the nature and process of science. It is packed full with free resources.

8- 42 Explore

42Explore is a great search engine specifically honed to provide search results pertaining to Science, Maths, Health, ect. Just click on the category you want to search and there you go.

9- The Field Book Project

The Field Book Project's overall mission is to create one online location for scholars and others to visit when searching for field books and other field research materials.

10- Earth Exploration Toolbook

This is a collection of online Earth system science activities. Each activity, or chapter, introduces one or more scientific data sets and analysis tools that enables users to explore some aspect of the Earth system.

11- Edheads

Edheads is an online educational resource that provides free science and math games and activities that promote critical thinking.

12- Periodic Videos

These are short videos annexed to the tables charting the chemical elements. These videos are created by video journalist Brady Haran, featuring real working chemists from University of Nottingham.

13- Sumanas

Sumanas develops animated tutorials in a variety of formats for many scientific disciplines. Just click on the subject headings to view samples of the animations provided.
