Quietube : Bringing Youtube Closer to Students

We all love YouTube and we can not imagine internet without it . As educators we know YouTube is an inestimable source for educative materials in the form of videos and audio clips . The thing is when it comes to using YouTube videos with our students in the classroom then we are running the risk of exposing them to inappropriate content such as nasty comments, promoted videos , ads ……etc . This being said , educators will not discard YouTube service and do without it . No way . Web2.0 has the solution . There are now many applications which filter and remove all the objectionable content from around YouTube videos . I have already covered here in this blog in a step by step tutorials some of these tools namely:




Today i will add another web2.0 video tool that will do just the same job as the others . It is called Quietube . This application removes all the fluff and distractive features around YouTube videos .

Go to Quietube main page
Just grab the Quietube button and drag it to your toolbar .

Now whenever you are watching a YouTube video just click on the Quietube button you have bookmarked and you will be presented with a simple page which you can send to your friends or colleagues . Yes it is that SIMPLE .

Applications of Quietube in Education

Tools like these are really a plus for us in the educational sphere . Nothing will ever stop us from sharing important educative stuff with our students . Teachers can select the relevant videos to use in the classroom then Quietube them into simple pages to share with their students . Internet is like a double edged weapon if not used properly then it will be a devastating factor and we , as educators and ICT researchers , should always harness its negative sides and present it to our students in the most appropriate way it should be .
